It’s always an honor when family members reach out to me about a new little baby joining the family soon. This time it was the first time auntie of little Roger. She found my page searching randomly on instagram and fell in love with the idea of capturing her brother’s new baby during this special stage. She reached out about 2 months in advance to set up the newborn session, and did mention that mom was going to have a c-section. One FAQ I get all the time is when is the best time for newborn portraits? The answer is within the first two weeks of life, but also that I don’t want mom and dad to stress if we have to wait a little longer- newborn sessions are still possible after that time frame and I would never turn any families away because of a silly said time frame. Once Roger was born, I spoke with auntie and we arranged a day for everyone to come into the studio.
I nearly gasped when baby Roger was uncovered while still sleeping in his car seat. His hair, his little lips, and his cheeks, were all absolutely darling! What a gorgeous baby boy. This time I took the car seat and made sure we kept him as sleepy as possible and began my posing flow. Wait until you see his little rolls. He really was a perfect little model, and the family really enjoyed watching me create beautiful setups for their new little sweetie.
We started the session with poses on the bean bag, and moved right into prop shots. Since he was so sleepy, we flowed right through lots of setups, and even included fall and winter into his session. This sleepy man was the sweetest. Towards the end, we were ready for mom, dad, and baby images- and of course we had to involve auntie who set all of this up! Even though mom was still recovering from her c-section, we all helped her pick out a gorgeous gown from our client closet for her. We’re so glad she did and she picked out a gorgeous white gown with pearls on it. It was a session to remember forever.
